Land Rover Discovery Sport

Vehicle engine shut down and completely lost power. Technician inspected and found intake camshaft actuator came loose from camshaft. On this vehicle it simply uses tension from the bolt torquing. There is no keyway to prevent this. Vehicle engine is destroyed. Very unsafe design.

Driving 80 MPH on an LA freeway with children, gearbox fault message, total loss of engine power, forced to coast to the shoulder.

I took my vehicle to a land rover dealership based upon 2 service bulletins issued by the manufacturer N768, sfcc_apr2022_17 and NHTSA item number 10211119.
